WD-1 PC/MAC Bar Code Reader
The WD-1 is a bar code decoder for use with an PC WIN9x compatible computer or Apple
Macintosh computer to decode most of the popular bar code symbologies . The WD-1 can
accept and decode scanned input from a hand-held wand (light pen), a bar code slot reader,
and most handheld laser or CCD non-contact scanners. It will also support an optional
magnetic card reader. The magnetic card reader must be ordered separately and the buyer
must specify whether the reader is to be mounted on the top of the WD1 or separate but
connected with a six inch cable. Data decoded by the WD-1 is merged in with the keyboard
entered data and is passed into the computer in a manner which is transparent to the
operating software. A model is also available for the IBM PS2. The buyer must specify at
the time of purchase whether the IBM cable or the Macintosh cable is desired. [more information]
SD1 Serial Bar Code Reader
The SD-1 is an in-line (wedge) bar code decoder designed to decode most of the popular
bar code symbologies and convert the symbol data into ASCII characters and transmit those
characters in RS-232 asynchronous serial format. The SD-1 can accept and decode bar code
input from a hand-held wand (or light pen), from a bar code slot reader, and from most
laser scanning devices or CCD scanners, and also can support an optional magnetic card
reader. [more information]
Wise Wand 1 (Low power) RS-232 Bar Code Wand
The WiseWand-1 (WW1) is a handheld wand-type scanner designed for reading and decoding
most popular barcode symbologies. The WW1 converts the scanned barcode data into ASCII
characters and transmits this ASCII data out of its RS-232 serial communications port
(which can be connected to a PC COM port or other host device). The WW1 is powered from
the host RS-232 port to which it is connected, making it ideal for use with palmtop and
notebook computers and other applications where external power would be cumbersome. The
WW1 will, of course, reduce the otherwise obtainable battery life of the host computer. [more information]
