The SD-1 is an in-line (wedge) bar code decoder
designed to decode most of the popular bar code symbologies and convert the symbol data
into ASCII characters and transmit those characters in RS-232 asynchronous serial format.
The SD-1 can accept and decode bar code input from a hand-held wand (or light pen), from a
bar code slot reader, and from most laser scanning devices or CCD scanners, and also can
support an optional magnetic card reader.
The two RS-232 ports on the SD-1 allow for a
number of interconnection possibilities, including direct connection to a host computer's
serial port, or to a standard ASCII data terminal, or "wedged" into an existing
serial link between a "dumb" terminal and the serial port on its host computer.
The operating environment for the SD-1 can be
user programmed through the serial port or via a bar coded menu. Once established, the
parameters are permanently stored in non-volatile memory for application at power-on.
Features
- Connects to any RS-232 serial asynchronous device,
data terminal, or computer port.
- Scans and autodiscriminates all major bar code
symbologies including UPC (A and E) EAN (8 and 13), Code 39, Interleaved 2 of 5, CODABAR,
and Code 128.
- Supports any digital wand or bar code slot reader,
Track 1 or 2 magnetic stripe card reader (ABA Standard), and most decoded or undecoded
handheld or stationary lasers and CCD scanners.
- Audible "beep" and an L.E.D. signal with
each valid decode.
- User selectable options including enable/disable
symbologies, minimum/maximum symbol length, pre/postamble keycodes, plus other operational
selections.
- Durable, high impact plastic wand with a
replaceable sapphire tip. (SSW-40).
